How to i get my new Manganese (Jaguar Cichlid) to become more active and eat?

Two days ago i bought a Jaguar Cichlid brought him home and now all he does it hide behind the filter. He was the most active fish in the tank in the fish store but now he won’t do anything but hide. I tried feeding him and i don’t actually see him eating. Please don’t go telling me about tank size because i’m very experienced with large cichlids it’s just that i’m new to this particular type of fish. I feel a bit disappointed and worried because he won’t do anything but hide and he is the only fish in the tank (20 gallon) BUT will be going in my 90 gallon. I have some HBH sinking pellets, Hikari Cichlid gold pellets, tropical fish flakes, freeze dried bloodworms, and frozen beef heart. He is only around 1.5-2inches right now and i from my researches they are aggressive fish so therefore i wasn’t expecting him to be acting this way especially since he was the bully in his tank at the fish store. So how do i get him to be more active and eat? Thanks in advance!

Give him time he will come around!

I wonder what other fish you have in with it.

I have owned a Jag before and this sounds very familiar! Just wait my friend, your fish WILL come around before you know it. Once it becomes comfortable within it’s surroundings and or claims territory it’s tank mates will suffer.
